The Harvest Moon

The arrival of autumn is heralded by an orange Harvest Moon. The term "Harvest Moon" refers to the full moon that falls nearest to the autumnal equinox, which will took place on Sept. 22. In 2017, the Harvest Moon will be this week on Thursday (Oct. 5).

A nighttime full moon provides a brilliant natural light source, so many people use this monthly event as a reason to take a nighttime hike or stroll on the beach. It's also an opportunity to look at some of the major features on the surface of the moon, many of which are visible without a telescope.

So we suggest that you enjoy the orange Harvest Moon with your favourite orange-based gin! Stroll out to the terrace in your local bar, or enjoy the fresh air in your garden at home. Jut make sure you're out there for 7.40pm, when the moon will shine brightest!
